Citizenship in the Community and Nation merit badges

On March 8, 2010 we will begin work on Citizenship in the Community merit badge.  When completed we will start working on Citizenship in the Nation.

These merit badges are required to be an Eagle Scout so I'm pretty rigorous about the work done for these badges.  Worksheets can be printed from the following website:  meritbadge.org or usscouts.org.  There are links listed at the end of the worksheets that may help your son answer the questions.  Pamphlets for each merit badge can be ordered online from scoutstuff..org or bought at any scout shop but are not mandatory.

Scouts should bring these worksheets to meetings with notes about the questions.  I don't require that the sheets be filled out in complete sentences but I want to see that the scouts have put some thought into the questions.  If a scout misses a meeting he will have to complete the worksheets himself for the requirements he missed.  We will do most of the work for the badges at meetings but some requirements will have to be done at home.  The number varies depending on the merit badge.  When we have finished I check the worksheets, fill out blue cards and then forward them to Curt Schade for processing with Council.

On March 8th we will talk about requirements #1, 2b, 5 and 6.  Please look these over before Monday.
