February Camping Trip 2/27 - 2/28
Our next camping trip will be Saturday/Sunday, February 27th and 28th.
We'll be having our annual Survival Weekend. The location is Camp Winnebago. It's a Boy Scout camp in Northwest NJ, off of Route 80, near Rockaway. We did an outing there this autumn.
The theme for the weekend is winter survival. We will be camping outside in shelters we construct. Also, we will be cooking over fires, instead of stoves. In addition, we will be role playing survival scenarios, in order to fulfill requirements for the wilderness survival merit badge. We'll also attempt to start a fire by rubbing together two sticks and if the weather is right we should be able to do ice fishing and hike with snow shoes.
There is a heated cabin available for the fathers and for the scouts to warm up in.
In the meetings leading up to the trip, we will be working on wilderness survival merit badge. Many of the requirements for the badge will be accomplished on the trip.
So mark your calenders. It should be a fun weekend and most of those who attend should be able to earn the wilderness survival merit badge.
Details on food/needed equipment will be worked at the meetings by the patrol leaders and senior patrol leader.

Is this the trip where you take your boots and socks into your sleeping bag so the next morning they are not frozen stiff and you can not put them back on?
