January camping trip

Our camping trip this month is the Klondike Derby. It's the weekend of the 23rd and 24th. It's at Camp Glen Gray, in Oakland NJ.

We'll meet at Linden at 7:30am on Saturday morning and return home around mid-day on Sunday.

The Klondike derby is a competition with other scout troops. The patrols will drag, push their sled(provided by the troop) to different "towns". Each town has a different skill that the patrols will be judged on.(fire building, 1st aid, knot tieing, compass, etc).

Dinner on Saturday night will be in the heated dining hall and will be cooked for us.

Sleeping on Saturday night is outside in lean-tos(picture a small cabin that's missing 1 wall).

Dress for the cold and be sure to have a change of clothes. You do not need your scout uniforms.

Feel free to post any questions on the blog or to ask the patrol leader, senior patrol leader(Terrance Walsh) or the Scout Master/assistant scout masters.
