Harriman Trip

The annual Harriman backpacking trip is coming up.
It's the Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
It's a great way to work off all that turkey and pie.

We'll leave from Linden Avenue on Friday morning.
We'll set a departure time at this Monday's meeting(it will likely be 9 or 10am).

All scouts and fathers are welcome.

If you don't have a good sleeping bag or backpack, contact the Scoutmaster. He can arrange a loaner for the weekend.

We'll be backpacking in Harriman state park. The boys will sleep in tents by patrol. Cooking for the boys will also be done by patrol. Fathers are on their own. Any fathers that want to share meals on the trip can contact John Davitt. Freeze dried is the norm. It's light and easy to prepare. We will have stoves available for the fathers to use.

We'll be doing 4-6 miles a day on the trail.

There will be maps posted on the website by Monday night, showing the route. This is for anyone who can't make all 3 days and needs to meet up with us, or leave early.

Pack light but warm. If scouts have any questions about what to bring, they should contact their patrol leaders or the senior patrol leader.

We should be home around noon time on Sunday. It depends on how fast we walk.

You can also purchase this map at Campmor (in Paramus, NJ) or The Outdoor Store (in Montclair, NJ) and mark your copy with the car parking, route and shelter details...

Having your own map is good 'orienteering' practice and a nice souvenir to keep from your trip.

All participants are required to bring a signed copy of the updated PERMISSION FORM.
