Committee Meeting on Friday Oct 10, 2008 - Notes

I.      Annual dues by October, Mr. Pitcher will email bill.
                A. $85 Scout
                B. $30 Adult
                B. $20 Student Leader
II.     Feb, March coffee fundraiser at train station; Being organized by Kelly Picher.
III.    Someone must ask Mark the custodian about using the art room at the end of the hall during meetings.
IV.     Mr. Gomez has suggested a three tiered first aid kit system.
                A. Small, basic kit all scouts should, with bandages exe.
                B. Medium, size for patrol leaders, larger more equipped
                C. Large, kit for Adult Leaders, with splints and more
V.      All scouts should have basic things, like a knife, and matches.
VI.     Wilderness survival instruction.
                A. Instructors would come in for an hour or so and demonstrate.
                B. Being organized by Mr. Cadmus.
                C. Possibly the cub scouts could join us.
VII.    Venture scouts/Venture patrol
                A. Possible trips
                        1. Ben’s December trip idea
                        2.  Dan Kopec’s trip idea involving his friend from Colorado
                        3. Catskills snowshoe trip, climbing peak w/o a trail
                B. Other Miscellaneous ideas/points
                        1. More day-trips
                        2. Senior patrol plans Venture trips
                        3. Combine Venture & regular trips
                                1.ie: Venture hike is 10 mi. Regular hike is 10 ft.
VIII.   Librarian Gabe could make a book shelf to bring to meetings
                A. When books are out of sight, they are out of mind, so put them in sight!
                        1. May have large .wheels, and a Plexiglas lid/door.
IX.     Make a 2nd or 3rd year scout Den Chief
X.      Invite Mothers to come on daytrips.
XI.     Mike, Dylan, George and Nick need boards.
XII.    Merit badges like orienteering and cinematography need to be finished
XIII.   More short opening activities like the paper airplane activity.
XIV.    Play more games other than Dodge Ball from Mr. Cadmus’s Book of scout games
XV.     Next meeting Friday Nov. 14 @ 7:30 Cadmus’s.
